ORGAN RECITAL.
A splendid attendance in,the Pitt-st, , Wesleyan Church welcomed M. RafaK' ewski at his valedictory organ recital last evening. The Instrument was,, : used by the kind courtesy of the Rev. W. J. Williams and the trustees of , ; the church. A- most enjoyable evening may be chron* ■ icled, and whilst to musicians the beautiful organ sonate -No. 0 oi Mendelssohn would unquestionably oc- ■ cupythe first and greatest considera* ■ tion every item was given with that impressiveness and earnestness which at once stamps the highly cultivated musician and inspired artist., In tivi - sOnate mention must specially.be inada of the clean and crisp-like touch of the ■ staccato pedals, and the "Fugue" and the lovely andante which terminates. ■ the work. Miss Lili Sharp once mor^ demonstrated con amore the capabil:ties and resources of her glorious yoiee to the great delight of her auditors, who manifested their j appreciation in no uncertain fashion.' That wbntltirful tone picture "The Storm" conclufl- , ed the recital, and M. Kafalewski play : ed it marvellously well, the distant . rumbling of the thunder, the omen of r a storm at hand, the moaning of the wind, the crescendo, the bursting of the storm, and the gradual dying away again to the softest whisper, as the ■ tempest abated; were admirably pourtrayed, and everybody was pleased. M. Baialewski is undoubtedly a great •• artist possessed of genius and the • highest individuality. ' - >
