TROOPER WHITSON RELEASED,
Mra Whitson, of Parnell; 'has received a cable from her son, Trooper H. Whitson, of the. New Zealand Regiment with General C&rrington) stating that he has been released by the Boers and is in good health. Trooper Whitson was captured some little time back.
The secretary of the Canterbury Jubilee Industrial Exhibition has written to His Worship the Mayor (Mr D. Goldie) stating that it is- intended to have an art- section in connection with the exhibition. Mr S. Hurst Segar, the chairman of committee, will visit Auckland soon and see Mr Goldie and others on the matter. The secretary, Mr Garrard, states that all the original space has been taken up and two large additions have be^n secured. The buildings are going forward rapidly and the executive hope to have everything . ready by November Ist, when His Excellency the Governer and Lady Ranfurly will open the Exhibition.
