REVIVER WINS THE METROPOLITA STAKES.
AUCKLAND-BRED KOROWAI SUCCESS FUL IN THE STEEPLECHASE.

SYDNEY, September 11. The A J C. Spring Meeting was continued to-day at Eandiwck In fine weather, and there was a large attendance. The big event of the programme, the Metropolitan Stakes, attracted a fine fie d of 28, Dandy and Paul Pry being the leadin- favourites. A big surprise proved to be in store, however, the winner turning up to the little-thought-of Reviver, who figured in the betting at 33 to 1. The Steeplechase was won by the Auck-land-bred mare Korowai, who made quite an exhibition of her field. The following arc the details of the lac-

Betting: 4 to 1 against Dandy, 6 to 1 Paul Pry, 7 to 1 Cyanide, 33 to 1 Reviver. From a good start Reviver was first away, attended by Parapet, Glenore, and Dandy, but going out >of the straight Saraswati led from Melodian and Sapir, who were clear of the field. Saraswati forced the pace along the far side, but had shot his bolt at the six-furloug post, where Melodian took up the running, with St. Clare and Reviver next; then came War God, Saraswati, and Glenore. Melodian led into the straight, but onco their heads were fairly turned for home Reviver drew up to tlio leader, and at the Leger stand he led by a length from Glenore and Boreas 11., the latter having come with a great run. Reviver, however, continued in the lead, and won by threo parts of n. length from Tar quin, a similar distance between second and third. The favourite. Dandy, finished amongst the ruck. Time, 2m 365.
