ATHLETICS.

NORTH SHORE CRICKET CLUB,

The annual meeting of the members of the North Shore Cricket Club was held last evening in the Council Chambers, Devonport. Dr. J. H. Laing presided, and there was a large attendance of members. The annual report stated that the receipts for the year had been £90 2/5, and the expenditure £80 15/5, leaving a balance of £9 11, the total assets of the club amounting to £50 9/2. The seniors played five matches during the past season, winning one and losing four; the second grade eleven played nine matches, winning none; the third grade played nine matches, winning four, losing four, and drawing one; and the fourth grade played seven matches, winning one and losing six. Reference was made to the new tenure of the Cricket Grouud, which had previously been rented from the • Domain Board, but which was now under the club's control. The club's trophies for the season had been won as follows:—Firse eleven: Batting, Mr W. T. Wynyard; fielding, Mr W. T. Wynyard. Second eleven: Bowling, Mr It. Wynyard. Third eleven: Batting, Mr W. Swanson; bowling, Mr T. R. Herd. Trophies were offered for competition among the members during the ensuing season by Messrs G. H. Broughton, R. Ford, J. B. Gilfillan, and J. C. Holloway. The election of officers of the club was as follows:—President, Mr J. C. Mucky, Mayor of Devonport; vice-presidents, Messrs J. B. Gilfillan, E. Ford, E. R. Cardno, W. J. Napier, M.H.R., E. W. Burgess, H. Chapman, G. Peacocke, J. Bollard, M.H.R., Captains Coyle and Mackenzie, and Dr. J. H. Laing; hon. secretary, Mr G. H. Broughton; hon. treasurer, Mr J. C. Webster; deputy treasurer, Mr C. Denby; auditor, Mr E. Ford; committee, Messrs A. B. Burgess, R.. Wynyard, W. T. Wynyard, H. Pitts, and T. R. Herd; delegates to the association, Messrs W. T. Wynyard and T. C. Fitzherbert. It was decided to enter a team for each grade in the forthcoming association competitions, and to commence practice on Saturday, the 22nd instant.
