SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
PONSONBY.
The monthly meeting of the Ponsonby Schools Committee was held in the Churchstreet school last evening. Mr W. J. Rees presided, and there were also present Messrs Turner, Court, Rainey, Parr, and A S Russell. The monthly report showed that at Church-street school the attendance during the month averaged 632 out of __9 on the roll; at Richmond Road, 589 out of GO3; at Bayfield, 253 out of 288. A sum of £4 was voted for scientific apparatus, provided that £5 for the same purpose was obtained from the Board of .Bduc ation. It was decided to purchase flags loi tue schools, the cost of flags and flagstaff's to be kept separate from the ordinary school expenses. A vote of sympathy was tendeied to Mr R. J. Hamilton, of the Churchstreet teaching staff, on account of a serious accident which he had recently met with at the school. The Inspectors' reports of the examinations at Church-street and Bayfield schools showed that at the former school 153 pupils were presented for examination, and 378 passed; while at Bayfield 203 were presented, and 187 passed. At Church-street school, in Standard VI., 47 passed out of 51 presented; Standard V., 51 out of 81; Standard IV., 77 out of 95; Standard 111., 67 out of 78; Standard 11., 76 out of 85; Standard 1., 63 out of 63. At Bavfield, Standard VI., 22 out of 27; Standard V., 27 out of 29; Standard IV., 38 out of 41; Standard 111., 28 out of 32; Standard 11., 39 out of 39; Standard 1., 33 out of 35.
