Wednesday. The monthly meeting" of Te Aroh-a Domain Board was held to-night, His Worship the Mayor (Mr E. Gallagher) in the chair. Present: —Gouneullors Wallace, Hirst, Edwards, Bygrave, O'Meagher, Mills. A report on the grounds attached to the sanatorium by Mr IT, J. Matthews, chief forester, stated: —"The grounds are certainly not in keeping with its surroundings, and the Board informs me they have no funds v for this work. I estimate, that the necessary improvements to bring the grounds up to date will cost £450." It was resolved that the clerk write to the Minister of Lands re grants for Domain; also to Mr "Merries and Mr. Palmer, M.H.Ks. It was decided to increase the salary of the second caretaker, Mr Fugil, from 20/ to 25/ per week, with the promise of another rise of 5/ at Christmas. Mr Mills tendered his resignation as a member of the Domain Board and Borough Council, in order to tender for the new bath building. Increase for the past live weeks totalled £01 8/, an increase on corresponding period, 1899, of £7 18/10. The following tenders were received for removing No. 6 building and building new bath house: Walter Smith, £240; Potterton & Winder, £234 10/; William Mackie, £213; Mills & Jackson, £311 0/9. Messrs. Mills & Jackson's tender was accepted. The. eon--tract time allowed is eight weeks. Messrs James Lyo and Son., Auckland, arc the successful tenderers for new house to be built hei*e for Mr D. Barbour. Mr Watt (Messrs Mitchell and Watt, architects) is at present here on business, and is staving at the Hot Springs Hotel. To-morrow is the. date fixed for the nominations of three candidates to fill the positions of Borough Councillors. The retiring members are Messrs Wallace, Edwards and Mills. The Borough Council are also the Hot Springs Domain Board.
