DROWNING FATALITY.

Mr John Nelson, master of the ketch Tararawa,' was accidentally drowned in the Gulf yesterday afternoon. The ketch sailed from Auckland shortly before three ' o'clock, and had almost reached Tiritiri when .Nelson, who had been leaning over the side, fell overboard. The other two members of the crew hove the ketch to,and one of them launched the dingy and pulled towards the man, but he sank before the1 boat preached him. The Tararawa waited about the scene of the accident, but there being no sign of her unfortunate muster she was taken in tow by the e.s.. Kapanui and brought back to Auckland, where the occurrence was reported to the police. Nelson, who Avas '49 years of age, leaves a wife and,family. He was a native of Sweden. Capt.J. Smith, of the Hikurangi Coal, Co., is the owner of the Tararawa.
