UNREGISTERED DOGS.

Sir,—While thanking you for the insertion of my letter the other evening, i must again appeal to your generosity, for the purpose of enlightening "Half Asleep's" dull brain. When I said I saw 17 dogs without 1900 collars I never imagined for a moment that it would catch the eye of such a ridiculously eccentric person as "Half Asleep," who apparently, does not understand the English language.' Just fancy a person in New Zealand interpreting the year 1900 to mean 237Jlbs of dog collars! I think we had better petition the Hon. R.S. to pass a law to the effect that all empty heads should be filled, or else import one of those brain manufacturing machines that the Yankees use in the Western wilds.' I see,also, by last- night's issue, that the canino coaxer has at last awakened; but, alas, for argument instead of duty. I am very sorry his feelings are so much hurt, as he seems to be handicapped by his ; small pittance. As the pen is mightier, than the sword, can we not in some way or other induce the Council to increase the pittance to poor old gentlemanly W.G.s satisfaction? We shall see.—l am, etc., WIDEAWAKE.' >
