Mr Justice Edwards and a special jury of four are hearing a case in. tho Supreme Court, in which Mrs Kar-o-aret Hicks, a charwoman, sues 1. \. Byrne, barrister and solicitor, ,of Kumara, for £500 damages for alleged slander. The action arises out of an. incident which happened in Wellington in August of last year. ..The plaintiff alleges defendant applied certain false and malicious terms' to her which have injured her reputation. Defendant denies that the words complained of were used or that plaintiff 3 character has been injured.
