LATENT FORCE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Our Government should institute experiments to be made with a view to making use of the vast stores of energy latent in the Hot Lakes district. Suitable thermoelectric appliances might utilise this internal heat and convert the lost energy ot the earth's interior into a useful form of power, and the heat evph-ed by the combination of pvritaceous substances in Nature's laboratory might well be harnessed to drive the wheels of industry.—l am, etc., H.J.
