Mr H. Bates, who has occupied a position in Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co.'s shipping offices for some years, on leaving the employ of the firm . yesterday was presented with a travelling- bag- by his fellow employees as a mark of esteem. Mr E. B. Dufaur made the presentation, the recipient suitably returning thanks.
The Rev. Bishop Williams, Bishop of Waiapu, was a passenger from Sydney by the s.s. Zealandia, which arrived last night. Bishop Williams proceeds to Napier by the same Bteamer on Friday.
