WEATHER REPORT.

WELLINGTON, this day. Wind: Moderate to strong from between north-west and west and south-west at all places north of Napier and New Plymouth. Gale from between west and south west and south thence southward to Kaikoura and Hokitika, and moderate to strong from the same directions at all other places. Barometer: Further rise everywhere. Sea: Considerable on all west coast and heavy on east coast t>etwegn Kaikoura and Castlepoint, moderate elsewhere. Tides: High on west coast north of Cape Farewell; good thence south, also on the eftst coast south of Napier, and moderate everywhere. Rain is expected at most parts of the country during the next twelve hours. The temperature will be lower in all parts of the country. Warning signals for ■westerly gales are exhibited at Capes Campbell, Foulwind and Farewell.
Synopsis of last 24 hours: Slowly increasing pressure everywhere, with moderate to strong north-west to south r west winds and rain, but there was" frost at Roxburgh. Low pressure from west will pass eastward of the meridian of South Cape on the 25th.
