PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Piako County Council met at Morrinsville on Monday. .
An account was received from the Ohinemuri County Council for £13! 10/9, Council's share of the licensing expenses to 31st July last. This charge was considered excessive,. and it was decided to ask for
It was agreed to pay £80 forthwith for the purchase of two gravel pits from the Assets Board. ,V .-
The Council agreed to purchase Mr Knock's pile-driver for £15.
Foreman Wattam was instructed to prepare specificatioris for forming a road from the main road at the Gordon Settlement to the Gordon Settlement, the Settlement Association to contribute £ for £ towards the work. . \
Mr John McCaw, manager for the Assets Board, wrote asKing the Council to renew the bridge across the drain into the Assets Board's paddocks at the Waitoa railway station. He said he considered it the duty of the Council ,to provide a proper approach seeing that the drain had been cut by the Council, and threatened to hold the Council responsible for any damage that might be done. The Chairman was instructed to obtain, legal advice on the matter, and the Foreman asked to report as to whether this particular drain is necessary, and if it could with safety be filled up opposite the entrance to the paddock.. Repairs to the Diagonal Road were authorised, Cr. Cox agreeing to pay half the cost of the work.
