The new Cosmopolitan Club at Wanganuiwas opened on Saturday by the Hon. Carroll, in the presence of a large number of members, including: the Hon. J. G. Ward, and a large attendance of the public. The building, which is two stories, with two frontages 105 x 52 feet, is intended to accommodate a membership %of SOO. Speeches of congratulation were given by the Hons. Carroll. Ward, Buddie, Fisher, Heke, and Mayor Hatriek. There was a banquet in the evening, and yesterday some 700 persons went 30 miles up the river. Kain set in towards evening. i GREYMOOTH, this day. A syndicate has practically bought out the Despatch Foundry .Company, and intend greatly extending the plant. The price paid for the propprty is no^ stated.. Coal exports for last., .week are;.— Blackball ,Co., 2067, tons. 17cwt coal; Brunner Co., 1133 tons 3cwt coal, 17 tons llcwt bricks, 17.tons 16cwt coke. " WESTPORT, this day. The output of coal from Westport last week was 8229 tons 2cwt, of which the Westport Coal Company shipped 7829 tons icwt ,and the YVestport Gooperative Co. (Mokihinui/500 tons. DUNEDIN, this day. Keports from Preservation Inlet state that McQueen and Rogers' party have discovered a seam of good coal about three miles in length. Mr D. Hughes, mine manager, . visited the, outcrop and reports that he found a solid, seam. Various other outcrops have been found by a party in which Timaru men are concerned.
