LONDON, August 16. - Speaking at Godalming,* Mr St. John Brodrick said Great Britain is prepared, if necessary, to land troops in Shanghai for .the protection of British life and property. ,
Britain is determined to risk everything and put forward all her styength and resolution before allowing British interests to go down in any part of the world.
Count Waldersee's appointment to command the Allied forces, Mr Brodrick said, would give general satisfaction, and would help to strengthen the'^ftes'between Great Britain and Germany.
