CONCERT AT THE GRAMMAR SCHOOL.
A:most enjoyable concert was given In .„ the Gramamr School hall last a. evening.. r by the school orchestra,- assisted , by,,.}'-.«----pupils of, the ,schooi;and friends., The hall was crowded with pupils and their friends,;';,-.V*^ and the applahse throughout was - mostf;?S|| hearty. The orchestra, under Mr'J. G.,' l| Trevlthick, gave three selections' in aH'j-JJS highly creditable manner—"Les Clpches ./r_j de TSt. „ Malo," "Eventide" and "Jolly, _.'. Japs." -Master P. West played ."'a cor pet^ '>; solo, - '.Rule-: Britannia," with' great, skill, . the variations being very difficult,, and ;,,';« had. to respond' to' a unanlmqu's, encore. The same remark applies to Master A. R.\ ».;-'/ Gat land's violin solo "The Heart I%_t.■'<>*__ i Once,":and-Master'W. "W. Phllson's fclarifi^Mm onet sol 6; "Luisa di Mohtfort;" both theso, ,• - players having, to respond to the hearty**, applause.■ -Miss Aickin sang "My Love isCome," and gave as an encore "Ma Curlvi'i .... Headed Babby." Mr Archdale Tayler^ who ,*';.«, carried off the honours of the evening, received tremendous applause - for his • ; rendering.of Kipling's "Bobs," and In rr- - sponso deligbted tlie audience with Oil- .;'s berts ,-Ellen' McJones, Aberdeen." Mr Tayler also gsja the'"Nightmare"Song,"from "lolanthe." in his Inimitable manncr, but contented himself with bowinp ''M hlsaeknOwledgemeiits'iin'responfee-to the " ■ i 'overwhelming- 'applause.
