CHANGING THE BOOKS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l regret to say that most of the public schools of Auckland are, after the examination, changing the books, only the readers I think. Well, people may say, just the readers, but if they come to buy them they might not say much more. 1 think It is a shame, because the children that have failed to pass their standards have to buy new books, which cost more money (especially in Standards IV., V., and VI.) The new books that have been bought previous to the examination are of no use now, either to themselves or their brothers or sisters who are coming after them. But why does the Education Board want to change the books, I should like to know?—l am, etc.,

PARNELL SCHOOLBOY.
