LI HUNG CHANG ■•':■ IMPEACHED
FOREIGN MINISTERS ORDERED TO TIENTSIN
HONGKONG, August 6
Since Li Ping Ling has been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese forces, Jhe;aggressiveness of the anti-foreigners in Pekin has been greatly intensified. Li Ping Ling has impeached' Li Hung Chang,' Linkuntgi; the '- Viceroy of Nankin, and other high officials suspected of pro-foreign ■syhipathies. An Imperial edict orders the foreign Ministers in Pekin to proceed to Tientsin under a strong escort, and permits the Ambassadors to communicate in plain language with their Governments. The executions in Pekin have profoundly impressed the officials.in the southern and central'provinces.
