OHINEMURI COUNCIL.

PAEROA, Friday
The ordinary meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held in the Council Chambers, Paeroa, this afternoon. Present:—Crs. Barry (chairman), Boler, .Stackpole, Draffln, Marrinan, . Poland, Cassrela, Moore, and Saunders.
Tenders Accepted,—Supplying sawn rimu timber for 12 months in Walhi, B. L. Knight, 12/ per 100 feet; supplying- culverts at Walhi for 12 months. H. W. Moore; right of charging at Netherton ferry for 3 years, W. X.eytes and R. McKee, £1 5/ per year.
The engineer's report was read and dealt witn a crossing at Woods' farm, Paeroa. It was decided to put in a pipe culvert at Twohys Road, Waihi, £G to be paid as a subsidy for work done.
Walkino Water Supply.—lt was decided to apply to the Government for a subsidy of £2 to £1 up to £SOO.
Waitawhita Road.—lt was decided to have this road surveyed from Ohinemuri River to the bridge over Waitawheta River.
Traffic Bridge, Karangahake.—Councillor Stackpole brought before the Council the necessity of urging the Government to gr^nt a substantial subsidy for the speedy erection of a traffic bridgo over the Ohinemuri River near Doherty's, Karangahake. After discussion it was decided to urge the Government to push on their railway bridge at Karangahake to enable traffic to go over it. Tho inspector's report .was read and adopted. A resolution of the Council was carried unanimously: "Th^at the abattoir charges are fair and reasonable."
Corne's Bridge, Karangahake, to Crown Company's Battery.—ln response to an application from the manager of ■the Crown Company the Council decided to put about 20 loads of metal in the worst places on this road.
Mackaytown Recreation Reserve. — Decided that the two Karangahake members call a public meeting at Karangahake to appoint a committee of management'of five, of which the two Karangahake members of the Council shall be ex offlclo members.
N.Z. Counties Association.—The Council decided to join this Association, and to send Cr. Cassrels as a delegate to the annual conference in Wellington this month.
Aid to Prospecting.—G. H. Mason applied for aid towards putting in a prospecting tunnel at Waitekauri. Kesolved by 5 to 4 to forward petition to Government for favourable consideration.
Bridge at Waiklno.—Half the estimated cost, having been paid, the Council decided to proceed with the erection of this foot-bridge at once. Mr Dennerley (Netherton).—The advjsability of acquiring a strip of land for road purposes from Mr Dennerley was considered ,and he was offered £10 for 3 roods, which price was accepted by Mr Dennerley, who was present. The Council also decided to purchase a further strip along the road, 12 feet wide and IS chains long, fcJr £10. Walhi Fire Brigade.—Decided to erect a standpipe opposite the .fire brigade staJohn Gooman (Paeroa).— Application for extras on contract in Main-strefet. Paeroa. Decided to allow £17 10/ for extras.
Karangahake Nightsoil Service.—lt was decided to take the necessary steps to provide a service at Karangahake.. Paeroa-Waihl Railway.—Decided to write to the Government pointing out the danger of having the line of railway beyond Waiklno on the cliff side of the road—that is having fife road between the railway and the river.
