ASSOCIATION NOTES.

It is rumoured that a new club has been formed in the Ponsonby district, to be called the "Arawa" Club. The members have been learning the "soeker" game, and will make a start next season.

This season we have had the pleasure of welcoming a new club into the Association fold, in the team from the Tabernacle. As is generally the case with a new team, the form shown at the opening1 of the season was poor, but by practising1 combination they have succeeded in giving our older clubs a shaking- up, and now, at the close of the season, we find them run-ners-up for the junior championship. In their first two games they failed to get a single goal, while 13 were registered against them, but in the two corresponding games of the second round they scored 3, while 3 were scored against them. The figures speak for themselves, and show the vast improvement that had taken place. Talcing the team individually, Aye find several players who will, no doubt, be heard of later on. Ttivley, in goal, plays a cool and confident game. This player seems to be the handy man y of the team, and, wherever he plays seems to be the right man in the right place. Guy and Carbines are two really brilliant fullbacks, and are perhaps the best pair in the contest. The player who has shown greatest improvement is D. Mill, who now plays a very reliable game. Battley, at centre-half, is in his right position, and at times does real sterling work, but his play is far too erratic. As "skipper" lie is hardly a success, his lack of judgment frequently places his side in a tight corner. Martin is the pick of the half-backs, and is a player of great promise. .Of the forwards Baker, Notton-Bigelow and Tui'ley, are a Very even lot, and are all sterling players, and with practice will become first-class men. 11. Page-Porter and Blakey, though not up to the standard of the other four, are not to be despised. The lastnamed is a very fast man, but has a bad habit of overrunning the ball— which if remedied would make him a dangerous man on the attack.
