BEQUEST TO AUCKLAND CHARITIES.

The late Mr William Arrowsmith, who died at Waiuku the week before la^t left a portion of his estate to local charities. Probate of the will was obtained yesterday by Mr Mahony, on behalf of the executors, Messrs C. F. Griffith and W. J. Hill. After providing for relatives and friends, the re-, mainder of the estate is disposed of as follows: To St. Mary's Orphanage, Ponsonby, £500; to the Helping Hand Mission, £500; to the Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society, £1000; and the residue to be equally divided between the Women's and Orphan Homes, Parnell. It, is not yet known what the estate will realise, but the legacies to the two institutions will be large. \
