LONDON", August 1. Witnesses in the inquiry re hospital arrangements in South Africa weakly .supports the complaints made by Mr Burdett-Coutts. Reference tp the treatment of wounded greatly minimised that gentleman's accusa-

the arrangements were far superior to' previous campaigns. Major Brydges, Ti patient in the Bloemfontei.i hospital, said the only complaint lie had was of the quantity of champagne he was obliged to consume.

Lieut. Clee, of New^South Wales, and Captain Thompson, of the First Australian Horse, gave evidence before the Hospital enquiry. ; Both warmly eulogised the African hospitals. /Mr Rudyard Kipling testified that the hospitals in February and March Welcomed private aid.
