THAMES, this day.

Trooper Newdick, a member of the First Contingent invalided from the Transvaal, is expected to return to Thames early next week. He will be met at the railway station by the Mayor, county chairman, chairman of the Harbour Board, local volunteers, fire brigade, Nnvals Band, Haurakis Band, and Wuihi Band. Addresses of welcome will be delivered at the bank corner, followed by a procession through the town, and a smoke concert in the Miners' Union Hall.
