FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
A summary of the frozen meat ex- ' ported from New Zealand for the six months ending June 30, 1900, com; piled by Dalgety and Co., Christchurch, for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company has been forwarded to us by Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co. The summary shows a great increase ~ , all round, the total export for the six months being 131,853,920 lbs, within ; fifty-eight million pounds of the total j for the whole of last year. The fol- • I lowing are the details of the total: Mutton 63,506,5Q2 lbs, the shipments for the preceding half year being 65,015,655 lbs. Lamb, 47,695,686 ■-lbs, against 6464,328 in the preceding six - months. Beef, 20,35q,732 lbs against ■/• 11,503,919. Auckland shows particu- | larly large increases, owing to the freezing works having resumed . operations. Mutton has increased from 102,397 lbs to 713,150 lbs; lamb .
