SLY GROG-SELLING.

HAMILTON, this day.

In the sly grog cases, heard at Te Awamutu yesterday, there were 8 informations against 15 persons. The fines inflicted ranged from £15 to £41, totalling, with costs, £431 8/8. Edward Tattersall, of Auckland, and Walter Williams, of Wellington, were the- informants. Jn nearly every instance the fine was paid.

Inspector Cullen received a telegram to-day from Sub-Inspector Wilson saying- that the following- fines hacf been inflicted at Te Awamutu in the slygrog selling cases:—Mrs Ormsby, £15, costs £3 Cs; John Ormsby, £25, costs £7 Is; Mrs Hettit, £25, costs £2 15s; John Hettit, £40, costs £6 15s; C. Eeynolds, £25, costs £2; W. Thornton, £25, costs £1 12s; C. Perry, £40, costs £1 ss; C. H. Holland, £25, costs, £8 9s Gd;' Penid Waako, £25, costs £4 8s 8d; Miri Te Rango, £15, costs £4 19s; Sarah Campbell, £25, costs '£4 0s 6d;'Alex. Campbell, £40, costs 14s; C. Falwasser, £25, costs £6 2s; Hurihia Tanuana, £25, costs £3 Is; total fines £375, costs £56 8s Bd. The case against Terete Roongo was withdrawn as it was found defendant was a young girl. The Court sat till eleven o'clock last night to finish the cases. Sub-Inspector Wilson returned to town thitf afternoon.
