PAPAKURA.

A special meeting of the Town Board was held in the Public Hall on Saturnday evening for the purpose of arranging for a patriotic demonstration to be held on the conclusion of the war in South Africa. There were present: Mr Walker (in the chair), Messrs Wallis, Clark, Young, and Stephenson, and a deputation from the Literary Institute, consisting of Messrs D. W. Jones and A-Steele. After a considerable'discussion as to the form the demonstration should assume, it was decided to have illuminations in the evening, and if possible a display during the afternoon. The following gentlemen were elected a* sub-committee to arrange the details: Messrs Willis, Clark, Evans, Somerfield, Lupton .and D. W. Jones.
