THE CLARK-HOWIE ALLIANCE
•V o-ood audience assembled at the V.M.C.A. Lecture Hall last night, when the Rev. Chas. Clark gave one of his delightful elocutionary entertainments, which was much enjoyed. The songs of Mrs Howie were received with great acceptance, and Miss Milly Heywood scored in her painoforte selections. To-night Mr Clark bids goodbye to New Zealand, when he will recite "St. George and Merrie England; or, British Valour, as shown of old and in the present war," "Bob Sawyer's Party," "The Siege and Relief of Londonderry," and the richest gems from Dickens' "Christmas Carol." By desire, Mrs Howie will sing in Maori, "Kia hari to moema," "Ma Curlyheaded Babbie," "Behold it is Morn, Love." Mr Clark and Mrs Howie sail to-morrow for England by the R.M.s. Alameda, via Australia.
