VOLUNTEER NOTES.
Some months ago meetings were held in Waiuku for the purpose of forming a Mounted Corps. The meetings were most enthusiastic, and about 50 signed as willing to join and Provide good horses. The offer of the services were forwarded througn the proper channel, but by some reason, for three months no reply was received for accepting or declining the offer. Waiuku always had the name of having a smart troop of good horsemen and first-class shots, arid those offering their services on this (occasion were a really smart lot of young fellows, all living within a [radius of four, miles of the village, and, ehould the necessity arise, I have no hesitation in saying that they could he got together and landed in Auckland, via Pukekohe, in six hours, after an urgent call. Whether any official Communication' has been received ' fcince I have not heard.—(Waiuku Correspondent.)
