LICENSING BENCH.
EDEN LICENSING' DISTEICT
The annual meeting of the Commit-tee-for the Eden Licensing district held to-day at noon at the Borough Council Chambers, Devonport.' There were present: Mr 11. W. Brabant, S.M., (Chairman), and Messrs G. L. Peacocke, E. W.. -Alison, Eobt. Duder, J. Bollard, M.H.E., and M. Niccpl, also Mr P. J. Burgess (Clerk of the Court). Constable Williams represented the police. Eenewals.---The following renewals were granted: —Flagstaff ■■Hotel- (Devonport), P. Delaney licensee* 11 o'clock license with right to extinguish lamp at ,the same hour. .Mr Hugh Campbell appeared. Masonic Hotel (Devonport), A. Grattan licensee, 11 o'clock license and right to extinguish lamp at. 11 o'clock. Mr Gribbin appeared. The police report w.as favourable in each case. The following" renewals were granted with 10 o'clock licenses: Lake Hotel, B. C. Eoberts, report favourable; New Lynn Hotel. Louisa Hertz (Mr Nicholson.appeared), granted subject to certain repairs to the hotel being done; Avondale Hotel, Emana Stych, report favourable; Arch Hill Hotel (comment was made by police in reference to after hours trading), Mr Nicholson appeared; Northcote Hotel, W. F. Brown (Mr Nicholson appeared). The constable gave evidence as to a conviction for Sunday trading with travellers and also as to insanitary state of outbuildings. The latter work it was stated had been attended to. License granted.
