PUBLIC SCHOOL MATCHES.
A SECTION,
Parnell v. Grafton. —Parnell won by 11 points to nil. Three tries were scored, each as a result of neat passing- rushes, Piper being responsible for two and Scrank for one.
Wellesley-street v. Richmond Road. —This proved very one-sided, Welles-ley-street winning by 28 points to nil. Out of eight tries obtained only two were converted. Beeston secured three tries, Kidd two, and Cole, Caffery and Dignan one each. The losers played a plucky,"uphill game. Napier-street v. Ponsonby.—Napierstreet won by" the narrow margin of one point—six to five. The winners obtained two tries and the losers one, which was converted.
Beresford-street v. Newton East.— Beresford-street won by 15 to nil. The winners showed excellent passing and out-classed their opponents in the second spell. Harper scored three tries and NoDan one, while McG«e kicked a penalty goal. Jackson, Hunter, O'Hara and McMahon played well for the losers. Mount Eden v. Onehunga.—Onehunga won in hollow fashion by 43 to nil. Richardson secured six tries, McFarquhar two, Barclay, Walker and Kelsall one each. Richardson converted five tries. -B SECTION. Bayfield v. Chapel-street.—The former won by nine points to nil. Butler secured two tries and Harris one. Newmarket v. Epsom.—A close game ended in a draw, neither side scoring.
