The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Crown Lands Board was held Wclay at the Government. Land and Survey Office, Customs-street West. Therewere present: Mr G. Mueller (Commissioner, presiding), Mr R. Thompson, M.H.R., Major B. Harris. M.L.C,.Messr-. D. Lundon and J. Renshaw. : ;
Lands Disposed Of. —The following % Summary of lands disposed of fronC April 21 to May 19 was .'submit ted:1' Leases in perpetuity, 11,229 acres; oc-'. cupation with right of purchase, 29i*> T6l acres; for cash, 3,589 acres; othet' leases, 24 acres; total, S<lselectors, of 44,603 acres. , . Timber Floatage.—An applicatidfl/1 from Messrs. Clendon and Mueller o_ behalf of B.L. Knight to have J. Ay. Brown's timber floatage license trans-v ferred to him was granted. This In* f cense is over streams near Krttikati.
Puhipuhi Block—Mr Thompson stafc- '■< ed that he had taken steps to have the ' whole of: the Puhipuhi Block in the North gazetted a kaiiri gum reserve. The Minister of Lauds had informed him a few days ago that the reserves y-.-'----would be gazetted "at once. Mr Mueller, Commissioner, also stated that he ; had already taken action in the sahi.B direction.—An application for a yea*to year grazing lease over certain land, at Puhipuhi, made by W. S. Do_bs, ; was refused, as the land had already been granted to W. Geary.—J. H.Hah- . nan applied for the lease of a portion of the Puhipuhi forest from the.Wai-; „ ariki stream, where the bridge is situ-' ated, down to the Kaimaku River.-^' It was decided to grant the applicant! No. 2 section, containing 874 acres, on a year to year lease.—F. H. Mander was also granted a year to year,lease '; of about 100 acres at Puhipuhi,.ad-\ joining Mander and Bradley's surveyed tramway line, for grazing pur-j poses. '..,"-, , Kawhia.—F. Hamilton applied "torpart of the. flat that has been marked for reclamation at Kawhia on a 21! years' lease.—The application-Was refused, Mr Hamilton to be informed, that the board was of opinion that, the reclamation works around the shores of Kawhai Harbour should be Undertaken either by the Governmen. or by the Kawhia Harbour Board-* when constituted. . ... ..- '
Applications.—Messrs. Schick afjS plied for 500 acres each in Block RV Te Kuri. The land being iv the kauri' gum bearing area, it was decided to • obtain a special report as to the gum;. on the land. ',-•-
