DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY.
Last night the City Hall was again very largely attenued. Miss May Mar-low and Messrs Lennon, Hyman and Lennon, who have been great favourites here, make their last appearance this and to-morrow evening. New artistes make their debut on Thursday night.
OLLA PODRIDA
A good audience attended a,t St. Mary's Parish Hall last evening to hear the lecture by the Rev. Joseph Campbell, M.A., P. G.S., entitled "Olla Podrida." Mr Campbell upheld his high reputation as a lecturer, and gave a most enjoyable, entertainment. The lecturer introduced scenes from the United Kingdom, United States and the colonies, scientific matters being introduced from time to time. The history of the plague was briefly touched on, the lecturer giving as the date of its origin 1141, 8.C., it being mentioned in I. Samuel vi. Views ot the plague bacillus were thrown on the «ereen, and the difference shown between it and the bacillus of bloodpoisoning and other diseases. The lecture was concluded by a few descriptive scenes of coster life in the. East End ot London. The lecturer had laboured for several years in that quarter. The lecture was interspersed with some excellent musical items. Piano duet, Mrs Kealv and Miss Kissling; song. Mrs Bebe; song. Mr Claude Kissling; piano and violin duet. Misses Garlick; song, Miss Piatt. Mrs Scaly acted as accompanist.
