LONDON, May 21. An engineer, a Mr Smith, informed
Lord Roberts that during the siege of Ladysmith, Commandant Erasmus, Commanding the Transvaal Staats Artilleries in the Transvaal laager, outside the beleaguered town, sent the Free Statem twelve thousand softnosed bullets for the Maxims.
