J.C. (Mt. Eden).—Th steamship companies locally have no record of the fast passages made by their vessels. The Moana, we believe, has steamed from here to Sydney in 3 days 9| hours, and the next best, is the Alameda's 3 days 10
hours.
G.M. (Birkenhead). —There is no legal provision for the attendance of the piiblic at school committee meetings, and it rests Avith the committee to say whether the public be admitted or not.
