SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

WELLINGTON, this day.
A sad accident happened on the train from Lower Hutt last evening. Mr T. A. Wallace, a resident of_ Greytown North, who was journeying, to town with his wife, after attending1, the races, stepped from a carriage before the train stopped at Ngahau* ranga, and was dragged under the following carriage. His left leg "v^a* Completely severed, and his right Je? so mutilated that there is no doubt amputation will be necessary. The railway authorities are,'by eye-wit-nesses, acquitted of all blame. The sufferer received every attention. and was removed to the hospital. His re* coTery is doiabtful.
