MOUNT ALBERT.
The annual meeting of the rate- \ payers of the Mount Albert Road District was held last evening in the pub- i lie school, Morningside. Mr John Bouskill, Chairman of the Road Board, presided. The meeting was well at- ' tended, there being present a thoroughly representative number of rate- i payers from all parts of the district. Several important questions affecting the welfare of the district were dealt i with, notably the question of a com- | prehensive drainage scheme, Ihe erec- , tion at an early date of a bridge in ' Commercial Road across the gully dividing the Arch •Hill and Mount : Albert districts, the proposed over- ■ bead bridge at the railway crossing on ' Kingsland Road, the question of o'o- ; taining a water supply from the pro- i posed service to the city from Nino- j tapu Falls, and the rasing of a loan i for putting the main road in thorough \ repair. In reference to sanitation, it j was unanimously resolved that the I Board be requested to appoint a Com- j missioner to thoroughly inspect the i district and report upon its sanitary condition or otherwise. The. report , and balance-sheet, which were adopt- ■ ed, showed that out of a fota! revenue j for the year of £-875 4s 2d, £111 10a ■ Id had been expended on administra- i tion, £451 13s 7d on public works, and j £101 13s lid had been contributed to the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, leaving a credit balance on the general account of £1310 Gs 7d. A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring Board (special reference being made to the chairman) concluded, tho business, and the meeting terminated.
