SUNSHINE EECOEDS
CHEISTCHUrvCH, this day
! The "I'ress" just corripleted a year's register of sunshine in Christ church, from observations taken on Jordan's recorder at the.office of the paper. The. result shows a total of-23 IS hours 2(> •niins bright. sunshine during the .twelve mbnths, or about 52.9 per cent* of the total possible, reckoning the .whole time the sun .was above the horizon. The "Press" says this far surpasses anything in British records, even for the- sunniest places k on the coast, which live-on their reputation for unclouded skies. The nearest approach to'the Ghristehurch-record is made' by Jersey, whose average is 3930.5 hours, or 44 per cent. London [has only 1240 hours' sunshine (28 per cent.), Glasgow 1095.8 hours (or 25 per cent.). : The ' "Press. strangly • urges ■that the Government Meteorological [Department should register sunshine at different stations and publish the results, as it would be ,n grand advertisement for the colony".
