ATTEMPTED BANK ROBBERY.
RANK MANAGER, SHOT. SYDNEY, May 1. A sensational attempt has been trade1 to rob the Bank of New South Wales tit Grenfell. fi'The manager, Mr Wilkinson, who resides alone in the building, late at night went to the back to attend to his'horse, when a wan prnjtnted a revolver at him, and ordered him to bail up. Mr Wilkinson grappled with the man, who fired. The bullet entered Mr Wilkinson's chest, and deflected under his should-er-blade. He managed to reach the hotei and give the alarm, and then fainted. Hit assailant, in the meantime, mounted a horse which lie had in readiness, and escaped. The wound is serious.-'
