LACROSSE.
This interesting sport, which was only started in Auckland last season, bids fair to obtain a much stronger ■. hold during the coming winter, Alfesdy quite a large number have noti- ; tied their intention, of going- in for tne great Canadian game, which only needs to be known to become popular* It is proposed to carry out this season a scheme for district clubs, similar to that now obtaining with football. Siix clubs wil be formed, these being Ponsonby, Graf ton, North Shore* Paradl* Grey'Lynn and Suburbs. As the game in no wise .injures the tuff, the Domain Cricket Ground will be the chief venue, while the North Shore ground has also been applied for. It is also ' proposed to form a Keferees' Associa-.. -. tion in connection with the sport. A. general meeting- of all interested in . the encouragement of lacrosse will be held at the Metropolitan Hotel on Tuesday, 10th April* when the officers and committee of the Association -will, be elected for the season. It is great-, ly to be hoped that there-will be a big attendance.
