POLICE COURT.

.Drunkenness.—For this offence Henry Harriet was fined .£l. Martha Chase C:3 or 14 days' hard labour, Win. Hart and Christian Larsen 10/ •or 4S hours each, Stephen South and Prank Dallas 5/ or 24 hours.

Prohibited. — Jcrhn Me.Vaughton, charged with being found in the Shulcespenre Hotel during the currency of a prohibition order was fined £2 or 14 days' hard labour.

Wilful Damage.—Martha Chase, on a charge of. wilful damage to Government property, at the police station, was ordered to pay the damage.

Theft.—lJobert- MeCulough, an elderly man, was convicted on seven charges ut' petty theft. The articles stolen were principally workmen's tools, la ken from building- jobs were the men were working1. Prisoner denied all the charges. "The constable (McCarthy) has given five evidences against me." he declared, "and none op them's true." His Worship, however, found that the "evidences" were strong enough to -convict upon. Sergr. Forbes stated that licensed had a bad. j-'harVictpr as a sneak thief. Three, handcart-loads of odds and ends of all descriptions had been found in accused's dwelling. His Worship imposed ii sentence of six months' hard labour. "1 can't do any hard labour," remarked the accused. "I've get an impediment that stops me cloin" any hard work whatsoever."

Maintenance. James Rne was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. for disobedience of an order for the inaiintenuncK of his wife, warrant to be suspended For one week to allow him to pay the arrears.
