STRAY DOGS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Please allow me a space to answer "Experentia's" letter. I have been a supporter of the "Star" 27 years. Some people are very clever in driving in the thin end of a wedge. All dirty, mangy, and useless, ownerless dogs have been destroyed by me. I decline to interfere with any dog under p^-e, or any dirty, useless dog that has a registered collar on. "Experentia" thinks that the work should be clone on commission or by contract, from January to August. .There would be dogs on the streets from August to January. What about them? Will he be kind enough to come and catch them all from January to August, and live 12 months on 6 months pay? He had better try it. If he takes a half a loaf of bread out of my mouth he must return it in another way, or he he's no man. If he is so fond of curtailing- one thing will he be kind enough to curtail the rates and taxes for 6 months. It is quite simple. I think it would be better for. him to mind his own business. —I am, etc., W. G. GARRARD, Officer-in-Charge of the Dogs.
