THE RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

The traffic manager at Invercargill. j reporting to the general manager on j the accident, states that he was on tho spot shortly after the accident and examined the place. The_ lock had been opened and the points Dammed at half-cock with some stones. The lock had evidently been opened with the proper key, or a key filed to fit, anct the whole* thing was done by some* i person who understood its working, j The last work done at the siding was , after six o'clock on Saturday, and the two shunters left everything sate. Tne | first "special" from Dunedm passeu through the points at seven minutes to six o'clock yesterday and everything was then all light, so that- the points were tampered with between that time and six o'clock this morning.
