ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
A young man named White, aged 22, eon of Mr S. White, contractor of Auckland, was drowned at Ka.reka.re Bay (formerly known as Iverikeri) West Coast, near Wai takerei, on Monday la.sk.
Suva papers received by the Rotokino on February 28 state that on the morning of the 10th inst., quite a gloom was eaet over Suva when it was kjiown that Mr E. Anderton Gledhill had broken his neck the previous night and died. The theorj' is that the deceisfrd went to bed at/ ait>r • little while, feeling nausea, jumped out of bed and rushed for the window for a breath of fresh air. He must have miscalculated the distance and over-balanced himself—--thus falling to the ground, a distance of over twentyfeet. The window is a low one, and euch an accident might easity happen Mr Gledhill, who was 35 years of age, was a native of Auckland, being a son of the, late Mr George Gledhill.
