THE GOVERNOR.
A VISIT TO DEVONPOIIT AND
CALLIOPE DOCK,
On Friday, March 2, Earl Beauchamp, Lord Ranfurly, Hon. C. HillTrevor, A.D.C., and Captain Wilford Smith, by permission of the Defence Department, paid a visit to the submarine mining establishment at Devonport. The vice-regal party were taken across in the Devonport Ferry Co.'s' steamer Eagle to the submarine wharf, being escorted by Mr W. J. Napier, M.H.8., and Captain Coylc, R.E., A visit was also paid to Fort Takapuna, where Capt. MeKenzie, K.E., joined the viceregal party. Afterwards the Calliope Dock was visited, Mr J. H. Withefcnl (Chairman of the Harbour Board), Mr J. M. Brig'ham (secretary), and Messrs J. Stichbury, J. T. Julian, J. Thornes, M. Niccol, Captain Duder, and Mr F. Dillingham (American Consul) being in attendance to receive the distinguished visitors. The Union Company's s.s. Manapouri was in the dock. Both Earl Beauchamp and Lord Ranfurly spoke highly of the dock \
