ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT
AN AUCKLANDER ARRESTED IN SYDXEY. SYDNEY, March 13. Detective Jones arrested a man named Holloway, alleged to have absconded from Auckland with funds of his employers. The detectives traced £G4O deposited with a local bank yesterday. Holloway was remanded for eight days. Bail was allowed. Prom inquiries made to-day wa learn that the accused was -orinerly a clerk in the Public Trust Office, Palmerston Buildings. His name is Edwin Holloway, and his age is about 24. Holloway is supposed to have, left Auckland in the s.s. Westi-aliq, on the sth inst. The usual practice of sending a police officer to Sydney to bring accused to Auckland will no doubt be carried ont in the "presenti case at once. Detective Jones, who, arrested Holloway, has distinguished himself several times in arresting New Zealand escapees in Sydney.
