NGARUAWAHIA REGATTA.
The Fourth Annual Ngaruawahia Regatta which is to take place on Saturday next is exciting- keen interest, both in town and country, and promises to even excel its predecessors. I The feature of most interest to city folks is the Maori portion of the programme, and, as the entries for the various events are large —the Maoris are already crowding into Ngaruawahia—the public may rest-assured that the trip will be well worth making. To make the regatta a success, the committee has recognised the import-; ance of catering extensively for the! Maoris, and by getting the support of the public they are enabled to distribute close on £200 in prize money each year, which goes a long way towards providing the natives with the necessaries of life and also assists them in laying in extra stores for the coming winter. By attending- on Saturday the public not: only get a good day's fun, but also further the interest of a desirable object.
