THE SYDNEY QUARANTINE STATION.

As has already been mentioned, Madden, the proprietor of the Hunter River Inn, in Sussex-street, was sent to the quarantine station, on Friday, together with several members of his family. The Premier of New South Wales having heard that the Board of Health proposed to relax the rule with regard to quarantining persons in the same house, with plague patients, gave it as his opiuion that in. the interests of public safety the rule hitherto followed should be strictly adhered to. The Board immediately took measures to carry out the Premier's wishes, and all the persons who happened to be in the hotel, including several guests, were detaintl. They were sent to the station on, Saturday morning with the exception of three, who were left behind for stock-taking purposes, and having- completed that work were spnt to the station on. Saturday evening. The people removed include Charles Russell, 22, steward, s.s. Mararoa; George Currait, 35, steward, s.s. Mararoa; Edward Sandys, 31, steward, s.s. Mararoa; Arthur Hurst, 29, steward, s.s. Monowai. This brought the total number of persons detained at the station up to something- ovel 60.
