SHE WATER SUPPLY.

Owing to the water being turned on in the city last night and the fact .that a large quantity was used at the fire, the reserve of 1,600,000 gallons previously stored showed a decrease of 135,000 gallons. The • Waterworks Engineer, Mr J. Carlaw, does not intend to turn otf the water in the city tonight. As to the flow from the Springs it would seem as if bedrock had 'been reached becaitse there ]ias been no diminution in the supply for the last 13 days. The experiment made in shutting off the water at night has clearly demonstrated that with care there will be ample supply for domestic purposes until tiie rains set in.
