With regard to Mr Chamberlain's j despatch, the report of the Pacific i Cable Board was made without knowing the particulars. He had cabled .to Mr Chamberlain to that effect. As ,it was admitted the Pacific cable j would not be completed under three I years the amended offer of the Eastern Extension. Company' would iih-J mediately give reduced lvites to England with a 2s 6d rate to the Cape. No concession was asked for till the completion of the Pacific cable. ' '
