PUKEKOHE SHOW.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,-As the date for the approaching show at Pukekohe is drawing near, I should like to draw attentionto one'or two errors that occurred at their last show in order that a similar thing may not occur this year. The first case -was that of an animal which was awarded the first prize as a two-year-old, whilst the catalogue gave its age as three years, and the animal's appearance bore out its age. The second case was in the produce department. The' schedule stated that all butter should be in half-pound rolls, without'distinguishing.marks; but the first prize was awarded to one-pou,nd printed pat, and the second prize did not comply with the conditions. As I was an exhibitor at the time, I would not raise any objection, but I should like in the interests of all exhibitors to ensure that this does not occur again. Also, I see by this year's prize schedule that the entries for butter are 5/ in each class, and that separator butter is excluded. 'Why is this? Half the buttermarkers in the district use separators, and a large portion of the others would object to paying 5/ entrance fee when the Auckland A. Show only charged 2/6, With equally good prizes. If the Pukekohe Committee want to restrict the number of entries they have certainly, taken drastic measures to do so: '

In the Auckland Show of '98 butter was judged by points, and exhibitors were expecting the same thing in '99, and a number of my acquaintances exhibited simply to obtain the number of points, which would have been of more value than a prize. Cannot our Franklin people arrange to have their butter judged by points? as the instruction it-would give the makers would in many instances prove of value.—l am, etc., EXHIBITOF
